If you ever listen to the radio, you have probably heard an ad for Ovation Cell Therapy. I am a sucker for ads {like the WEN infomercial that sucked me in a few months back–read about here}, and knew that Ovation was something I needed to try. I have been growing my hair out FOREVER. No, but really, it’s been 7 years of growing out. So naturally, I am always looking for the best products to aid me in the grueling grow out process. My goal is for my natural hair to be as long as my Halo Couture hair extensions.
I have been using Ovation for about a month now, and am loving the results so far! I can’t say that my hair has grown a crazy amount and I all of a sudden have long & beautiful mermaid hair {which is my goal by the way}, but I think I am on my way!The great thing about Ovation is that it is customizable to your hair type and texture.
I was sent the Balance Cell Therapy System which includes these products:
Volume Therapy Shampoo | Cell Therapy Hair Treatment | Moisturizing Creme Rinse
You may be wondering “what makes Ovation different?”, and trust me, I was wondering the same thing! The biggest reason it is different than other hair care systems is it has 3 steps: cleanse, treat, and moisturize. The Cell Therapy {or “treat” step} is to be thought of as a vitamin for your scalp and hair and can be used as a leave-in {up to 8 hours, then rinse} or rinse out treatment {leave on 3-5 minutes in shower, then rinse}. So, how does it work? “Ovation Cell Therapy Hair Treatment nourishes your hair and scalp with proteins and amino acids that bind and absorb into the hair shaft for hair that is noticeably thicker, stronger, and longer”. Now that you have a better idea of what Ovation is all about, I will tell you more about my experience so far using it!
First impressions:
- This stuff smells AMAZING! Like, the best smelling hair products I have ever used, and being a hairdresser, I have used a lot! It is a subtle coconut and pineapple scent that is not too overwhelming. At first I couldn’t put my finger on the scent of this product–I had to look on their website to find out it was coconut and pineapple scented. But now that I know, I dream of drinking pina colada’s on the beach every time I wash my hair 🙂
- The shampoo lathers up very nicely.
- The Cell Therapy was easy to massage into my scalp and hair.
- The Creme Rinse {conditioner} did NOT soften my hair like I had hoped, so I am using my HASK conditioner on the ends of my hair to detangle and soften {most of you won’t have a problem with this, I just have extremely fragile ends due to my love affair with bleach}.
- My hair has a little extra body- definitely not weighed down by the products.
- I don’t notice my hair being less or more greasy than before I started using this product.
- I don’t notice less or more hair loss when combing my hair after washing it.
- My hair styles very nicely–it’s smooth, soft, and touchable. I usually round brush my hair after I was it and I definitely notice a difference with the way my hair styles after washing with Ovation {see photo below}.
So, those are just a few observations I’ve had in this first month of my Ovation journey. Has my hair grown 3 inches the first month using this product? I wish!…. But, do I like what I am noticing so far? Absolutely.
I am going to finish out my bottles of Ovation {minus the creme rinse because it is not conditioning enough for my hair} and hope that I see some growth progress! I am determined to find a miracle product {and make all my dreams of having mermaid hair without extensions come true} and I have a feeling Ovation could be that product if I give it enough time! Have any of you used Ovation Cell Therapy? If so, what was your experience with it?

I loved ovation when I used it. I agree the rinse isn’t nearly as moisturizing as it should be I replaced that with the jasmine hair mask from lush. Your hair looks fabulous!

Great post, it’s nice to read hair reviews from legitimate hair dressers because you get so much exposure to so many products that you have quite the upper hand when it comes to recommendations. I’m also a sucker for these ads, and it’s good to hear your thoughts on the products, especially the conditioner because I also have a long standing love affair with bleach. Thanks for the info and have a great week!

Which did you like better, Wen or Ovation? Please and thank you! My hair is semi long and thick but for some strange reason it completely 100% hates blonde..every time I’ve ever put it in my hair it becomes fried, frizzy, and unmanageable. .now that is had grown out a bit..from about the middle of my ears down is fried. These are the two products I have been considering..which one did you like better?
