It seem like it’s been ages since I’ve had a newborn! Nikson was born 2 years and 5 months ago, but already so much has changed since then in the world of mom and baby products. Of course there are still some baby items that I will reuse this time around, but I have also discovered some other awesome products that I am so excited to try with my new baby!
If you’re a mother or mother-to-be, you’d have to be living under a rock to have not heard about this product. The DockATot is a multipurpose docking station designed to keep babies safe and comfortable, and make mom’s life easier. The DockATot is lightweight and can be taken around the house with you, so you have a convenient place to set your baby while you do things. I am trying not to get my hopes up, but I’ve heard SO many moms say the DockATot is a miracle worker for sleep!
The DockATot comes in two sizes, Deluxe for 0-8 months, and Grand for 9-36 months. I also got a toy arch set which conveniently attaches to the DockATot to entertain your baby. I cannot wait to try this out once my baby is born!
As my due date approaches, I’m starting to remember how messy babies are…haha! It seems like there is always some kind of spit up or poop mess with newborns. Also, I’m remembering that my husband and I got peed on during diaper changes more than we’d like to admit in those first few months! I can’t believe it has taken me so long to get a Lorena Canals rug. These rugs are not only gorgeous, but perfect for babies/toddlers because they are MACHINE-WASHABLE! Yes, you heard that right, they are machine-washable! These rugs fit in standard washers and dryers.
These all natural rugs are handmade and contain no VOC’s. They are designed in Spain and made in India and the proceeds support the Sakûla Project which provides schooling for children in India.
I chose the Aztec Natural – Vintage Blue rug and it couldn’t be more perfect for our playroom. I anticipate lots of time spent on that rug with my two boys, and I love that I won’t have to be as careful with messes because of the machine-washable aspect.
3. Binxy Baby
Sometimes you hear about a new product and your first reaction is, “Why has nobody thought of that sooner?”. That is exactly how I feel about the Binxy Baby Shopping Cart Hammock. This Shopping Cart Hammock fits most standard grocery store carts and can hold a car seat and support up to 50 lbs in weight. This is another product that receives rave reviews from everyone who tries it. You have to check out their Instagram and see all the pictures of cute babies in shopping carts! This is getting me excited for a Target run!
Is there anything cuter than a swaddled baby? I absolutely love holding a swaddled burrito baby, but I remember Nikson being able to easily break out of swaddle blankets even in his first few months of life. I am so excited to try The Ollie World Swaddle, also known as the “The Smarter Swaddle”. This swaddle is made from moisture-wicking material to reduce overheating and helps ease transition from the womb. You can customize the fit and even access diaper changes through an opening at the bottom.
There are therapeutic and developmental benefits that come from using this swaddle, such as:
- Reduces risk of SIDS
- Helps maintain supine position
- Decreases irritability while promoting self-soothing
- Decreases the risk of hip dysplasia
Biggest regret with my first child….not getting a glider/recliner! I don’t know what I was thinking! This is one baby item that should definitely be on every mom’s registry. If you are a nursing mother, you will for sure need a comfy chair to nurse your baby in, and even if you don’t nurse, babies just love being rocked to sleep. I also anticipate that I will fall asleep in this glider a lot with my baby, so I love that it reclines and has a high back to support my head (which is surprisingly hard to find in a glider).
I have to admit that I’ve already spent a good amount of time in this glider and my baby isn’t even born yet! It is seriously comfortable. Remember, not all gliders are created equal!
What are your baby must-haves?
I received these products in exchange of a review. All opinions are my own.
