Who doesn’t love this time of year? One of my favorite things to do when seasons change is head to the mall and scope out all the new trends! I love online shopping, but there is just something about physically going to a mall and browsing the stores. Last week I had the opportunity to go to Stoneridge Shopping Center (one of my FAVORITE malls in the Bay Area), and check out some new fall trends.
I started at the Sephora in JC Penny to talk to a makeup artist named Kelsey about fall makeup trends. She taught me about one of the biggest eye makeup trends this fall called the brick eye. The brick eye trend is created by using red and orange toned eyeshadow (like the ones found in this palette). I never in a million years thought that I would wear red and orange tones on my eyes and actually like it, but Kelsey created the brick eye on me and I LOVE how it turned out! Another aspect of the brick eye is to start with a darker color on the outer half of the eyelid and blend it into a lighter color towards the inner corners of the eyelid. She also finished the look off by dusting the darker color along my bottom lash line, in place of eye liner.
One of my favorite stores to get shoe trend inspiration from is Steve Madden. I went to the Steve Madden store at Stoneridge Shopping Center and fell in love with so many pairs of shoes. The biggest trend happening in shoes right now is VELVET! You can find a velvet shoe in just about any style — velvet booties, velvet flats, velvet slides, velvet sneakers, ect. I tried on a pair of blush colored booties and fell in love. They would be so cute paired with leggings or skinny jeans. This particular pair of velvet booties comes in 6 color options that are all so cute.
For jewelry trend inspiration I headed to Brighton Collectibles and Francesca’s at Stoneridge Shopping Center, two stores that have great jewelry. My favorite ring trends right now are stackable rings. They are so cute and can be worn all together on one finger, or you can split them up. As far as necklace trends go, people are going crazy for coin necklaces and T-chain (or lariat) necklaces. The manager at Francesca’s said those are the jewelry pieces they are selling out of so fast right now! And I can definitely see why, because I love them too!
