Yes, I had my baby! And yes, he is already 3 ½ weeks old now and I’m just getting around to posting about his birth! I have been in newborn heaven over here and all I want to do is hold and cuddle him and hope he never grows up. Here’s a little bit about his birth, as well as some hospital newborn photos that my talented friend Tevi of Tevi Hardy Photography took!
My due date was October 10th, but Kingston didn’t make his debut until Friday, October 13th! I know that might seem like an unlucky day to be born on (especially if you are superstitious), but I felt like I won the lottery that day! Not only was I elated to not be pregnant anymore, but I was blessed with the most beautiful, healthy baby boy.
My labor was much different this time than with my first son. Some parts were better, some were worse, but one thing remained the same — I do NOT love giving birth. But, I have yet to find a more magnificent feeling than holding my newborn for the first time, and it all ends up being worth it.
Baby Kingston weighed 9lbs 11oz and was 21 inches long. I almost feel like he was never a newborn because he was such a big baby and keeps gaining weight rapidly. He has the sweetest temperament and eats and sleeps great. I truly feel like the luckiest mama!
I wasn’t sure I wanted hospital photos taken, based on my hospital experience with my first son. I honestly looked and felt like crap for a long time after giving birth, and taking photos was the last thing on my mind. But, I recovered a little more gracefully this time around, and was so excited that Tevi Hardy Photography could come the day after Kingston was born to capture some precious moments.
One moment I will never forget is when Nikson met Kingston for the first time. I’ll be honest, Nikson is a bit spoiled (hello, first child!), and everyone anticipated a lot of jealousy from him. I even went as far as to say I didn’t want Nikson to come to the hospital and see the baby, because I was expecting a tantrum of some sort and I didn’t want to deal with it. My mom and sisters were watching Nikson while my husband and I were in the hospital, and they said he had been so excited to come and see us and meet the new baby, so I decided to let him come. He ran right into that hospital room and was instantly obsessed with his baby brother! He surprisingly wanted nothing to do with me even though he’s a total mama’s boy. He couldn’t stop loving and kissing his brother, and would get mad when anyone tried to intervene. My photographer said it was the sweetest sibling meeting she had ever seen, and that means a lot to me because she photographs a ton of family hospital sessions!
Anyway, I just wanted to share what I’ve been up to lately and why I haven’t been blogging as much. I’m working on some fun holiday posts and can’t wait to share some recent outfits as well!
I hope everyone is having a great week! xx
